I really shouldn’t bother Peter Lawler: he’s doing fine work working with students at ISI’s national Honors Conference this week. But I couldn’t help wondering what Peter would have to say about this gee-whiz Financial Times article on the technological innovations allowing humans to live far longer, and “ageing well,” as MIT’s Joe Coughlin puts it.

The article addresses some of the complications associated with the “silver tsunami”—e.g., how to fund long-term care. But it does not raise any of the larger issues in our anxious and aging society, such as the matters of virtue and human dignity that Peter highlights.

So, Peter, if you get a moment, I’d love to get your take.
